Avr atmega 2560 hvpp problem
The way it is set now is for internal oscillator at 1MHz (default), if you uncheck the CKDIV8 fuse and program the fuses then the chip will run at 8MHz.

This leads me to believe that there is a bug in START for this driver. I'm shocked!!  That's why I used assembler for my E5 project/product, so much easier.

Different working speeds at the same baud rate
that is only the speed it send a byte with, nothing about delay between bytes,   Maybe to confuse OR clarify things, some or most?? terminal programs give you the choice...
