Verifying Flash Failed Error

Hello community, I was wondering if you guys know what this means?

 

I'm trying program the ATMEGA644A chip with an ATMEL ICE in JTAG. This error pops up whenever I try to verify flash. I suspect its the cause this the following error I keep getting:

 

This happens whenever I try to program the chip. Does anyone have any clues on these errors? I'm super new to AVR programming.
