Has any one modified a RZRaven, swapping the AT86RF230 with a AT86RF212 tranceiver?

Where there any suprises?

Thanks,

They will be. Antenna design is completely different for sub-GHz band.

It still may work but range will be too low.

Beside the antenna issue which obsoletes the use of a RF212 in terms of range (already mentioned from Alex above) the RF212 and RF230 are pin compatible, as long as you do not enable the special functions of the pins DIG1-4
in the RF212. But instead of resoldering a Raven I would prefer a module
which supports the RF212 directly, e.g.

- RCB212SMA V5.3.2 (see http://www.dresden-elektronik.de...).
