SAM4S: Firmware Upgrade via Ethernet - Windows application available?

Hello everybody,

 

I mainly work with microcontrollers from the SAM4 series. So far, I've used a USB interface along with the SAM-BA tool for In-System-Programming. For a new project, a firmware upgrade via Ethernet should be possible.

 

I have read about the possibility to update the firmware via Ethernet on the SAM4S. For this an Android application is available to transfer the binary file to the microcontroller:

Is there such an application for Windows?

 

I'm also excited about other ways to update the firmware over Ethernet.

The SAM4S has enough room for a robust bootloader that can support downloading the .bin (e.g. your firmware) by USART, USB, Eithernet or Wifi. There is a SAMD21 ASF example project provide with AS7 that does an update via USB. I was able to modify that code to download the firmware from my network server and update the SAMD21. If I recall, managing a boot loaded with the SAM4S is very different than a SAMD21, but the concept is the same.
