After stumbling around the sources, it seems that there is no designated linux kernel module driver for the ATWINC1500 (if I'm wrong, please prove it to me).  I'd like to save the extra time to develop my own kernel module if I can help it.  Has anybody had any luck with the ATWINC1500 in embedded linux development and test?

The WILC1000 has linux support with SDIO primarily. Check http://www.atmel.com/images/atme... if you haven't already.

You can use the WINC1500 in WILC1000 mode, where the internal TCP-IP stack in the WINC is bypassed.  I think this is called "ethernet mode"  I do not know for sure, but this should work with the standard Linux driver.
