Hi Guys,

Has anybody interfaced external flash IC using Atmel SAM E70 microcontroller?

Any with experience on these, please guide me on the right track to interface External Flash.

I was planing to use the SPI interface onboard SAM E70 to communicate with N25Q032A flash IC.

In SAM E70 Datasheet, page 41, section 9. Product mapping, I could see QSPI MEM defined from 0x80000000 to 0xA0000000.

Does it mean that the flash chip interface via QSPI can be accessed by reading this location?

Maybe I am wrong, but am just asking.

Also in datasheet, im section 10.1.5 Flash Memories, the datasheet says that the QSPI interface mapped at address 0x80000000 extends the flash size by adding an external SPI or QSPI flash.

Can anybody help me on this?

Has anybody tried this before?

I'm using S25FL127S SPI Flash memory. The MPU cannot run code directly from SPI flash. But as far as I understand the E70 datasheet this should be possible using QSPI flash but there are some things to know.

Maybe this Atmel document can answer your question:
